One of my favorite things ever is being an aunt. I love everything about it. Being the first adult awake during Christmas means you play matchbox cars, ice cream on hot summer days, talking about fashion or sports, hotel breakfast bars, playing ball, golf cart rides, front porch nights at grandma’s, last photo together before deployment, and even going to a demolition derby. “Hey, Aunt Tammy, are you guys going to demo tonight?” “What kind of demonstration?” I asked. I was clueless! But more than anything I wanted to see my nephew’s world, so now I have been to a demolition derby. Unfortunately, I have only been able to visit with these sweet people once every few years for about a week at a time. That’s not enough. No, it isn’t enough to really love on them consistently and have good long conversations or even inside jokes. So, for all the missed hockey and baseball games, gymnastics meets, proms and graduations, my gift to you now is this blog. I hope you’ll find it encouraging, helpful and fun. I hope you will hear my voice in every post whispering in your ear that you are important, you are worthy and of great value and that your Aunt Tammy loves you so face-squishing-much!
To Zach, Austin, Casey, Ryan, Hannah, Louis, Lexi, Cecelia, Henry, Hope, Junior, Logan and Kennedy and those who have yet to join us.
Even though these peeps get the dedication, you don’t have to be family to be a reader. Thanks for joining in!
This was so touching. I actually cried.
